Trade Waste Tipping at Our Selby Transfer Station

Trade tipping, also called third party tipping, means bringing your own waste directly to our licensed waste transfer station at Selby Energy Park instead of hiring a skip. You book a time slot, your load is weighed on our weighbridge, you tip in our shed and we segregate and recycle the material.

Once your paperwork is checked you drive onto the weighbridge, where the load is weighed before tipping. You then tip in the tipping shed, and when the vehicle is empty you return to the weighbridge for the final weight. The difference is your load weight, and the material is segregated for recycling.

No. We cannot accept asbestos, oils and fuels, paints, solvents, gas bottles and cylinders, chemicals or any other hazardous waste. Plasterboard is accepted but must be kept separate from other material in your vehicle. Hazardous items need a specialist licensed contractor.

Our waste transfer station is at Selby Energy Park, Selby, YO8 6EG, serving tradespeople and waste carriers from Selby, York, Goole, Castleford, Tadcaster and across North and East Yorkshire. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm; we are closed on Sundays.

Everything tipped at Selby is segregated into wood, metal, plastic, soils and hardcore so it can be recycled into new products or materials. Hardcore and brick rubble go through our in house screening facility, which produces recycled aggregates such as 6F2 and brick rubble graded from 40mm to dust.

Yes, but plasterboard must be kept separate from all other waste, as the regulations require. Tell us when you book that your load includes plasterboard, and keep it apart in your vehicle so it can be tipped on its own. Mixed loads with plasterboard in them cannot be tipped as general waste.
